2 shot, injured in apartment on Chicago’s North Side, police say

CHICAGO - Two people were shot and critically injured in an apartment on the city’s North Side late Friday night.

The shooting happened in an apartment in the 5800 block of North Kenmore Avenue in the Edgewater neighborhood, Chicago police said.

What we know:

Officers responded to a call of someone shot at the apartment a little before 11 p.m. and found two people with gunshot wounds.

The first victim was a 25-year-old man who was shot in the chest. He was treated by paramedics and taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital in critical condition.

The second victim was a woman who was shot in the chin. She was also taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital in critical condition.

Police found a gun at the scene.

What we don't know:

No one is in custody, police said. 

Police also did not give an age for the female victim.

Area detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
