'Batman v Superman' preps for first weekend at the box office

The Dark Knight goes head-to-head with the Man of Steel in the latest superhero blockbuster, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,"  which debuts nationally March 25.

Lasting two hours and 31 minutes, the film is not short on star power with Ben Affleck playing Batman across from Henry Cavill, who returns in his second film as Superman. Oh, and don't forget about Wonder Woman.

Warner Bros. Studios is hoping "Batman v Superman" will serve as a jumping point for its proposed "DC Extended Universe."

Filmed partially in Chicago and surrounding locales, director Zack Snyder's film is is projected to surpass $300 million worldwide for its debut weekend.

The film will be debut this weekend on roughly 4,000 screens domestically and 30,000 internationally. CNN estimates "Batman v Superman" will need to bring in $1 billion to be considered a box office success.
