Chicago man accused of killing 23-year-old, firing at car with infant inside: police

A Chicago man has been charged with the attempted murder of a 23-year-old man in the Back o the Yards neighborood, according to Chicago Police.

What we know:

Jonathan Smith, 30, of Chicago, has been charged with two felony counts of attempted first-degree murder, two felony counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm at an occupied vehicle, and a felony count of aggravated battery/discharge of a firearm.

Smith was arrested on Feb. 10 in the 0-100 block of E. 75th Street.

He was identified as the suspect who shot and injured a 23-year-old man in the 4800 block of S. Elizabeth Street on Jan. 24.

During the incident, Smith allegedly shot at, but did not strike, a 28-year-old man and a 4-month-old boy who were inside a car.

What's next:

Smith's next court date is scheduled for Friday.
