Cook County residents vote to fund improvements for local forest preserves

Cook County residents voted Tuesday to pay more in taxes to fund improvements to the local forest preserves.

The referendum would add a .025 percent increase to those taxes.

It comes out to about $1.66 per month for the average homeowner.

More than 150 local organizations and companies spoke out in support of the referendum ahead of election day.
