Former Crystal Lake teacher accused of providing alcohol to students, having sex with them

FOX 32 NEWS - A former choir director at Crystal Lake Central High School was arrested and charged Wednesday with providing alcohol to former students at his town home in Crystal Lake, as well as having sex with some of them.

Thirty five year old Justin Hubly, who had been choir director at the high school since 2004, is charged with two counts of battery, according to Crystal Lake Police. They said they have identified two victims, but there may be more. Police said every time they talk to one person, they are given another name.

Hubly was suspended in October after another staff member suspected some inappropriate behavior and reported it to authorities. That’s when the police investigation began. Hubly turned in his resignation and it was accepted at the November 8th District 155 school board meeting.

When FOX 32 went to Hubly’s town house in Crystal Lake and knocked on the door, no one answered and the lights were all off. Neighbors expressed shock and dismay at the news, but no one had seen any parties going on there or saw any one appearing to be in their teens or early 20’s at his home.

In addition to be the director of choirs, Hubly was also a long time teachers union president in Crystal Lake Central and was considered a very popular teacher.

Hubly was released from custody after posting a $10,000 bond. He is due back in court December 27th.
