Metra train crashes into car, leaving 1 dead on Chicago's NW Side
RIVER GROVE, Ill. - Service on two Metra train lines was stopped after a train collided with a vehicle, killing one person Tuesday morning on Chicago's Northwest Side.
A Metra North Central Service Train crashed into a car around 8 a.m. near the intersection of Narragansett and Mclean avenues in the Galewood neighborhood.
Metra officials told FOX 32 the driver was confirmed dead after the crash. On Wednesday, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as 34-year-old Francisco Rosario of Chicago.
Metra NCS trains were stopped in both directions. Trains on the Milwaukee District West Line were also impacted.
Another Metra track was opened up around 9:05 a.m. but extensive delays are still expected for a couple of hours.
There were no other reported injuries.
