Officials revealed the identities of some of the victims in Thursday’s tragic Oregon school shooting.

During a Friday news conference, officials shared how the shooter gained access to the school and detailed the brave actions of the man and teacher who stopped the shooter.

Some victims identified

Dig deeper:

One of the students who was killed in Thursday’s shooting was identified as 5-year-old Rhoam Summer. His identity was shared at the request of the family.

What they're saying:

"He never met a stuffie that he didn’t think needed to be rescued and cared for," said Swan Sheridan, whose sister is Rhoam’s mother.

"He had a great fondness for sharks and dinosaurs and creatures that were in his words, ‘misunderstood,’" she said.

He was also a fast runner and a fearless climber, his aunt said.

Sheridan said her nephew would climb and jump off anything and was an "incredibly fast" runner, even from a young age. "He was a little ball of energy from the moment he was born," she said.

The identities of the other victims, ages 8 and 11, will not be released because they are minors.

The teacher who was killed was identified as 25-year-old Megan Lambert of Bend.

The 7-year-old student and 54-year-old teacher, identified by family as Becky Drury, who were injured are still receiving treatment, officials said. The student is in stable but critical condition and Drury is recovering from surgery.

Giamanco proceeded to park his car in the school parking lot and retrieved his gun from his car before pursuing the gunman into the school.

Once inside, Giamanco and the shooter engaged in a physical altercation before the shooter was shot and killed.
