Police: Boy, 17, shot in head, killed near Far South Side school
SUN-TIMES MEDIA WIRE - A 17-year-old boy was killed in a shooting Tuesday afternoon near an elementary school in the Riverdale neighborhood on the Far South Side, according to Chicago Police.
The boy was walking about 1:40 p.m. in the 13300 block of South Calumet when someone in a gray vehicle fired shots, according to Chicago Police. Officers responding to a call of a person shot found the boy suffering from a gunshot wound to his head.
The boy was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he later was pronounced dead, police said. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office didn’t immediately confirm the death.
The shooting happened near W.E.B. DuBois Elementary School.
