South Chicago shooting leaves 1 dead

A person was shot several times and killed Sunday afternoon in the South Chicago neighborhood.

The shooting happened around 5:53 p.m. in the 8800 block of South Houston Avenue, police said. The victim was shot once in the neck, once in the chest, two to his back and once in the hand.

He was dropped off at Advocate Trinity Hospital where he died from his injuries, police said. The Cook County medical examiner's office has not yet identified him.

No arrests have been made. Area Two detectives are investigating.
