Street vendors robbed at gunpoint on South Side

Two street vendors were robbed at gunpoint last month on the South Side.

Someone approached a vendor in the 8600 block of South Cottage Grove about midday June 16 and indicated he wanted to buy an item, according to a community alert from Chicago Police. When the vendor took out money to make change for the sale, the suspect pulled out a gun and robbed him.

Another street vendor was robbed in a similar incident in the early afternoon of June 25 in the 8600 block of South State, police said.

The suspect is described as a 24-to-28-year-old black man between 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-10, according to police. He had black hair in dreadlocks and a dark brown complexion.
