Suspect stole money from Chicago West Loop businesses, police say

Police are looking for a suspect in a string of commercial burglaries that took place in the West Loop early Monday morning.

Police are looking for a suspect in a string of commercial burglaries that took place in the West Loop early Monday morning.

The burglaries took place in less than an hour and a half, according to Chicago police.

Multiple business burglaries

What we know:

In each of the incidents, the unidentified offender forcibly entered the business after prying open the front door.

Once inside, he stole money from the business’s cash register, according to police.

  • 500 block of West Lake St on Jan. 27 at 1:40 a.m.
  • 100 block of North Clinton St on Jan. 27 at 2:04 a.m.
  • 100 block of North Clinton St on Jan. 27 at 2:30 a.m.
  • 0-100 block of North Clinton St on Jan. 27 at 3:00 a.m.
  • 0-100 block of North Clinton St on Jan. 27 at 3:00 a.m.

Police described the suspect as an African American male standing between 5-foot-10 and 6-feet tall and weighing between 150 and 160 pounds. 

He was wearing a black hooded jacket, black and gray jeans, white gym shoes, a black ski mask, black gloves and a black backpack.
