3 hurt after truck hits ambulance on Chicago’s South Side, causing it to hit 2 other cars
CHICAGO - A semi-truck hit an ambulance, causing it to flip over and hit two other cars and injure three people on Chicago’s South Side Saturday morning.
The truck was traveling northbound in the 6300 block of South Ashland Avenue and hit the rear passenger side of an ambulance traveling eastbound on 63rd Street, police said.
That crash caused the ambulance to flip over and hit two sedans.
The driver of the ambulance, a 64-year-old man, was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center with minor injuries and listed in good condition.
The 59-year-old passenger of one of the sedans was taken to Holy Cross Hospital with minor injuries and was listed in fair condition.
The driver of the other sedan, a 58-year-old woman, had an injury to her left arm and was taken to St. Bernard Hospital in good condition.
The driver of the semi-truck was cited for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle.
