Chicago man fired shots on I-94, led police on pursuit: ISP

A Chicago man has been charged in connection with a shooting on Interstate 94, state police said.

The arrest followed a police pursuit that ended with the suspect surrendering on the city's South Side.

What we know:

The Illinois State Police (ISP) responded to a report of gunfire on northbound I-94 near 47th Street around 11:10 p.m. on Jan. 31. No injuries were reported.

The following day, investigators identified a suspect vehicle and located it on I-94 southbound near 91st Street. When officers attempted a traffic stop, the driver refused to pull over, leading to a pursuit.

A Chicago Police Department helicopter assisted in tracking the vehicle, which was eventually spotted parking in the 2100 block of 98th Place.

The suspect, 32-year-old Reginald Brown, surrendered and was taken into custody.

Authorities have not released details about what led to the shooting, how Brown was identified as a suspect, or whether a weapon was recovered.

What's next:

The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved felony charges against Brown, including Aggravated Possession of a Weapon by a Felon (Class X Felony) and Aggravated Fleeing to Elude (Class 4 Felony).
