Chicago ready for Game 3 against the Cards

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -- Wrigleyville is expected to be electric Monday, maybe even all day!  Some lucky fans have the day, Columbus Day, off and will be able to start the party early.

It was the definition of the calm before the storm on Sunday. Everybody from fans to businesses gearing up for Monday's game.

“It's about to get crazy here tomorrow, I am kind of nervous," said Jimmy Viktora.

While the expectations for the party outside Wrigley on Monday are high, one day before and it's pretty dead.

All this is bound to change when thousands pour into the bars surrounding the ballpark.

“We keep comparing everything to the Blackhawks run because we've already seen it. We kind of know what to expect from that," said HVAC Pub Operations manager Jason Ruffin.

He said last Wednesday’s Wild Card win for the Cubs encouraged him to overstock the shelves and call in plenty of staff.

“It’s stressful, but at the same time the servers do see the dollar signs. The more people, the more opportunity for them to make money," said Ruffin.

Monday's game at Wrigley will be history in the making - as this is the first Cubs-Cards post season game at the Friendly Confines.

“They have the favor because of all these years and history but the Cards are a great team," said one Cards fan Kit Mohler.

The Midwest rivalry dates back more than 100 seasons and while it may be a respected rivalry both teams and their fan bases still want the World Series win.

“We admire them, but they've had their championships. It’s our turn now," said Cubs fan Greg Kreinberg.

Sunday night, tickets were being sold at $150 for standing room only, with the most expensive coming in around $20,000.
