Chris Brown is free on bail after assault with deadly weapon arrest

Chris Brown was free on $250,000 bail Wednesday after being booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

Brown was taken into police custody Tuesday after a woman said he pointed a gun at her at his Tarzana home. He was released late Tuesday night after posting bail and was due in court on Sept. 20 to be arraigned, according
to jail records.

Mark Geragos, Brown's high-profile attorney, took to Twitter to thank Brown's fans for their support. "Thanks to everyone for their support and well wishes," Geragos said. "Chris is out and well. The allegations against him are demonstrably false.TeamBreezy."

Brown was taken around 5 p.m. Tuesday to Los Angeles Police Department Headquarters, where he was questioned by investigators after a search warrant was served at his home in the 5000 block of Corbin Avenue in Tarzana.

Officers went  to the residence around 3:15 a.m. Tuesday in response to a call from a woman.

Because of the high-profile nature of the case, the LAPD's Robbery-Homicide Division was ordered to handle the investigation. But Brown declined to come out of the home early Tuesday, beginning an uneventful waiting game as police tried to obtain a search warrant.

The warrant was served around 1 p.m. Tuesday and people inside the home were brought into a front courtyard, where they were searched by waiting officers prior to questioning by detectives, LAPD Lt. Chris Ramirez said.

The LAPD did not immediately reveal what the search warrant helped turn up. The celebrity news website TMZ.com reported that several people were at Brown's home Monday night but when uninvited guests arrived, Brown allegedly threatened a woman with a gun, prompting her to flee the home and call police.

With police surrounding his home Tuesday morning, Brown took to social media to deny any wrongdoing and blast the police for swarming his house over what he called a trumped-up allegation.

"When you get the warrant, whatever you need, you gonna walk right up in here, and you gonna see nothing, you idiots," he said. "I'm tired of (expletive) dealing with you all. Y'all the worst gang in the world, the police."

He contended he was asleep and awoke to the sound of the police and media outside. "... When I call the police for stalker people that are endangering my life, they don't come til the next day. Let somebody make a (expletive) allegation about me, oh yeah, the whole (expletive) SWAT team."

Brown also mocked the media coverage of the situation, lashing out at the characterization that he was "barricaded" in his house.

TMZ reported that Brown at one point threw a duffel bag out of a window, and police retrieved at least one gun, some other weapons and drugs, but Ramirez said he could not confirm the report.

A model named Baylee Curran told the website she was the one who called police, saying she was at Brown's home Monday night with a friend. She said she saw an associate of Brown displaying a piece of jewelry, and when she began admiring it, Brown pointed a gun at her and ordered her out of the home.

Curran also said Brown's associates tried to get her to sign a non-disclosure agreement before she left, but she refused.

Brown, 27, has had a number of run-ins with law enforcement, most prominently over his 2009 domestic abuse of then-girlfriend Rihanna. His probation for that assault ended in March 2015. A week ago, he sought to invalidate a summons served by a process server involving a lawsuit filed by a life coach hired to help rehabilitate the entertainer's image.

Mike G sued the singer on June 23 in Los Angeles Superior Court for allegedly beating him up on May 10, just days before Brown was to leave for a European tour. The plaintiff maintains he thought he was having a routine talk with Brown about the tour but alleges Brown instead took him into a room and punched him four times in the face and neck.

While the life coach had to go to the hospital to be treated, Brown showed no remorse and boasted to others about the attack, the suit alleges.
