Cooking with Fire: Steak bowls with the Crown Point Fire Department
CROWN POINT, Ind. - This morning we're Cooking with Fire at the Crown Point Fire Department, making firefighter/paramedic Josh McBurney's Steak Bowl.
The Crown Point Firefighters Association is selling bottles of bourbon to purchase new equipment and gear. They hand selected their own barrel. You can pick up a bottle for a donation of $75. Contact the department to get yours!

Steak Bowl recipe
- Choose your choice of steak (New York strip or ribeye)
- Start by seasoning your steak
- Lightly cover the steak with olive oil.
- Add salt, pepper, chili powder, garlic powder, cumin and a squirt of lime.
- Chop your peppers into slices.
- Coat with olive oil, salt, pepper, chili powder, garlic and cumin.
- Place your steak and veggies together on a flat top and cook to your desired temperature.
- Start cooking a batch of quinoa according to the directions on the package.
- Make your avocado ranch sauce by mashing two avocados. Then, mix with 1/3 cup of ranch dressing, Salt and pepper to taste. 1tsp of garlic powder, 1tsp of paprika and a squeeze of lemon juice. Mix well.
- Top the quinoa with your steak mixture, avocado ranch and feta cheese.
