Cops save woman overdosing after Cubs' parade in Loop
CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) - A woman was found unresponsive and given an emergency dose of Naloxone at the Metra South Shore Line’s Millennium Station on Nov. 5 after the Cubs’ parade.
Naloxone, sold under the brand name Narcan, is a medication used by first responders to block the effects of opiods and often used in overdose cases, according to a statement from the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District police.
Shortly after 2 p.m., police responded to a report of a woman down as several thousand South Shore passengers were boarding trains back to Indiana after the Cubs’ World Series parade, police said.
Police located the 18-year-old woman and administered Naloxone, which is part of an NICTD officer’s emergency kit, and the woman quickly regained consciousness, police said. She was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where her condition was stabilized.
