Driver dies in crash with CTA bus in Englewood

A driver died after crashing into a CTA bus Wednesday in Englewood on the South Side.

About 4:50 a.m., officers received calls that a bus collided with a vehicle in the 6900 block of South Ashland Avenue, Chicago police said.

The driver of the vehicle, 38-year-old David Williams, was pronounced dead at the scene, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Autopsy results confirmed he died from injuries sustained in the crash, and ruled his death an accident, the medical examiner’s office said.

The driver of the bus was taken to Holy Cross hospital in good condition, police said.

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.
