FBI, police plan update after body of missing Crystal Lake boy found
FOX 32 NEWS - Crystal Lake Police and FBI officials will host a press conference this afternoon after the missing Crystal Lake boy's body was found, police sources tell FOX 32.
The media briefing will take place at 1 p.m. at City Hall.
The body of Andrew "A.J." Freund was found Wednesday morning on private property in Woodstock.
The parents of A.J., Andrew Freund Sr. and JoAnn Cunningham, reported their son was missing last Thursday morning after putting him to bed the night before.
Police released the 911 call from Andrew Freund Sr., where he says that he got home from a doctor’s appointment between 8:15 and 8:30 a.m. that Thursday and went to check on A.J. and wake him up, but he was not in his room or in the home. He tells the dispatcher that none of the home’s doors or windows were open.
Fruend says in the call that he canvassed the neighborhood and checked a local park and gas station, but could not find the child.
"We've checked closets, the basement, the garage, everywhere," Freund told the dispatcher, adding that he had scoured the park, a nearby school and a "local gas station down here where we sometimes take him to buy treats."
DCFS has had repeated contact with A.J.’s family since he was born with opiates in his system in 2013.
