Authorities in North Carolina said a gardener took it upon himself and boldly hosted a larger house party at his client's home without their knowledge.

The backstory:

The Union County Sheriff's Office said Michael Brown, 37, admitted that he was the "lawn guy" at the house.

Authorities said over the weekend, deputies were called to a house after receiving several noise complaints and traffic hazard reports.

Deputies said they spoke with Brown, who initially implied he was the homeowner. Deputies didn't believe him and said Brown then said the home belonged to his grandparents. After fabricating more stories, authorities said Brown finally told the truth and said the homeowners were away on vacation.

Brown is accused of inviting several hundred people and charging a cover fee for each attendee.

Due to the crowd size, several law agencies responded to the residences.

Authorities said as the attendees left, some drove away recklessly in their cars, leading to many traffic stops.

Brown is charged with several crimes, including breaking and entering, second-degree trespassing, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, injury to real property and obtaining property by false pretenses.

What they're saying:

"Brown was specifically told he was a guest at our Detention Center, not a resident, and ordered not to throw any parties in our phone cell while trying to secure a bonding company," authorities joked on their Facebook page.

What's next:

Brown was placed under a secured bond of $10,000.00. He's no longer in custody.
