General Motors is recalling 62,468 vehicles because of a brake pressure issue that might cause fires.
A letter from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) noted that a brake pressure sensor assembly in these cars could leak brake fluid into the brake pressure switch and cause a short circuit.
The NHTSA warned in the memo that an electrical short in the brake pressure switch could overheat the circuit and raise the risk of a fire while driving or parked.
Which GM cars are part of the recall?
Why you should care:
The recall covers 2019 to 2024 Chevrolet Silverado models in 4500 HD, 5500 HD, and 6500 HD, General Motors told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in a June 25 memo.

What you can do:
Owners that have one of the recalled vehicles can take it to the dealership to have the brake pressure switch wire harness replaced for free. Letters informing car owners of the safety risk will be mailed on July 28, and a second round of letters will be distributed too.
