Illinois bill would bring Halal, Kosher food options to public schools

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - An Illinois bill that would bring Halal and Kosher food options to Illinois Public Schools has passed the state Senate.

The legislation would require the state Board of Education to enter a contract with different food vendors.

It would also provide the same meals to state facilities and the University of Illinois hospital.

The bill will now go to the House.
