Man critically hurt in South Shore shooting

A man was critically wounded in a shooting early Saturday in the South Shore neighborhood.

The 21-year-old was standing outside about 1:45 a.m. in the 7000 block of South Jeffery Boulevard when he heard shots and felt pain, Chicago police said.

He suffered one gunshot wound to the groin and was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition, police said.

No one is in custody as Area One detectives investigate.
