Mother of Ronald Johnson demands city release dash-cam video

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - The family of a man killed by a Chicago Police officer is calling for the release of police dash cam video.

The family of Ronald Johnson say they want justice and a special prosecutor to oversee the case.

The 25-year-old was shot and killed by Chicago Police, just eight days before Laquan McDonald.

Police say they were forced to shoot Johnson because he pointed a gun at officers.

The family filed a wrongful death lawsuit saying he was unarmed and did nothing to provoke the shooting.

Johnson's mother, Dorothy Holmes, told FOX 32 last week, she saw the police dash cam video.

She said her son ran past the police car and when the door opened, the officer started firing.

"I'm asking that the mayor, McCarthy, Alvarez release the video so everybody could see this officer's lying about what happened that night when he murdered my son," Holmes said.

The family will speak along with their with attorney to the media at 10:30 a.m.
