Orland Park condo fire: 2 cats rescued, residents evacuated

Firefighters extinguished a blaze at an Orland Park condominium Saturday morning, rescuing two cats and safely evacuating residents.

What we know:

The fire broke out at 11:30 a.m. at a six-unit condominium building in the 15300 block of Treetop Drive.

The Orland Park Fire Protection District responded and found fire in a second-floor unit when they arrived.

Fire crews used multiple hose lines to put out the flames and helped evacuate residents from other units.

Two cats were rescued, and no injuries were reported, according to fire officials.

The fire was contained and did not spread to neighboring units. However, several units sustained smoke and water damage, officials said. 

What's next:

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Firefighters from Lemont, Palos, Tinley Park, Homer, Frankfort and Lockport assisted in the response.
