Person hospitalized after falling onto Blue Line tracks

CHICAGO (STMW) - A person was hospitalized after falling onto the Blue Line tracks Wednesday afternoon on the Near West Side.

The person fell onto the tracks at the Illinois Medical District Station at 430 S. Damen at 1:16 p.m., according to Chicago Police and the CTA.

The person who fell, a male whose age was not known, was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious-to-critical condition, according to police and Fire Media Affairs.

He did not make contact with the third rail or a train, according to the CTA.

Power was removed to the tracks in both directions between the LaSalle and Kedzie-Homan stations until 1:48 p.m., CTA spokesman Jeff Tolman said.
