Real Urban Barbecue executive chef Sam Netter joined us on Good Day Chicago to show us how to make a delicious caramelized onion dip!
Caramelized onion dip
-2 tablespoons unsalted butter
-2 medium onions, fine diced, kosher salt and black pepper
-1 cup mayonnaise
-1 cup sour cream
-2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives
-thick-cut potato and vegetable chips, for serving
-Salt and pepper to taste
1. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium-low heat. Add the onions and ½ teaspoon salt and cook, stirring occasionally, until deep golden brown, 30 to 35 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
2. In a medium bowl, mix together the onions, mayonnaise, sour cream, chives, ¼ teaspoon salt, and ? teaspoon pepper. Serve with the chips.
