Skokie River Jane Doe: 20 years later, state police looking to ID recovered body
DES PLAINES, Ill. - More than 20 years after a woman’s body was pulled from the Skokie River, the Illinois State Police are still searching for her name.
Found partially clothed and wearing a scorpion ring, she remains unidentified.
What we know:
The body was found Saturday, July 12, 2003, floating in the Skokie River, south of Lagoon No.1 and south of the dam, near the North Branch Trail System.

During the removal of her body, Illinois State Police determined the victim was a woman and partially clothed.
Autopsy Results :
According to the autopsy, the woman was estimated to be between 20 and 39 years old at the time of her death.
She would be between 42 and 61 years old if she were alive today, authorities said.
She was 5-foot-2 with black or dark-colored long, straight hair.
State police said she had one metal dental filling and a metal bridge replacing two missing upper front teeth. The replacement may have been the result of a traumatic injury earlier in her life.
She was wearing black Lycra shorts and a scorpion ring.
