All lanes of Stevenson Expressway reopen after deadly crash
A Summit man was killed early Monday during a crash between a truck and a sport-utility vehicle on the Stevenson Expressway on the city’s Southwest Side.
CHICAGO - A man was killed in a crash involving a semi on the Stevenson Expressway in Chicago Monday morning.
A Honda HR-V rear-ended a semi truck around 2:30 a.m. in the outbound lanes of I-55 between Central and Harlem avenues, according to Illinois State police. The driver of the Honda, a 31-year-old man from Summit, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified as Daniel Diaz by the Cook County medical examiner's office.
All lanes reopened around 8:40 a.m. according to ISP.
Police said speed may have been a contributing factor in the crash.;
