U.S. 52 shut down in Kendall County after fatal crash

SHOREWOOD (STMW) - U.S. 52 is closed between Grove Road and Brisbin Road after a fatal three-vehicle crash Friday morning in west suburban Kendall County, authorities said.

Around 7:08 a.m. a Nissan Altima was southbound on Grove at U.S. 52 when it failed to yield to a semi truck that was westbound at Grove, a statement from Illinois State Police said.

The truck struck the Nissan and rolled onto its side, causing fuel to leak from the tanker, police said.

A Toyota Camry traveling behind the truck also hit the Nissan.

The Kendall County coroner’s office pronounced the driver of the Nissan dead on the scene, police said.

U.S. 52 remains closed between Grove and Brisbin, and will re-open after fuel cleanup is complete.

The ISP Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit is still investigating.
