Uber driver charged with possession of firearm, marijuana

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) - An Uber driver was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and marijuana after a traffic stop Friday in the North Side Edgewater neighborhood.

Chad Pilcher, 41, of the 300 block of 91st Street was charged with felony counts of possessing a firearm with a defaced serial number; unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon; possession of between 10 to 30 grams of marijuana; and a misdemeanor count of possessing a firearm without a valid FOID card, according to Chicago police.

Pilcher was pulled over about 3:25 p.m. in the 1100 block of West Foster for operating a vehicle without seat belts, police said. When officers approached his vehicle they smelled marijuana. Further investigation also revealed the handgun.

Pilcher was driving his vehicle as an Uber driver and had a customer, police said.

He is scheduled to appear in bond court Sunday at 2600 S. California.
