Hedge fund billionaire Ken Griffin has donated $20 million to the campaign of Aurora Mayor Richard Irvin, who is running for Illinois governor against JB Pritzker.

Student walkouts have been increasing since a central Illinois judge issued a temporary restraining order against the governor's school mask mandate. Now some districts are taking steps to avoid in-school confrontations by switching to remote learning.

Two new retailers have been approved for Illinois SNAP recipients to purchase groceries online, bringing the total to 11 across the state.

The reason for the end to the indoor mask mandate is because of declining COVID-19 hospitalization rates, Gov. Pritzker said.

Gov. J.B. Pritzker announced Wednesday when he plans to ease the statewide mask mandate.

“Facing what we think is about 7% inflation, if we can find ways — property taxes and gas taxes and grocery taxes — to alleviate the pain families are experiencing by lowering those taxes in a moment when they need it most, we ought to be doing that,” Gov. Pritzker said.

Chicago police describe Tecarre Harper as a “prolific criminal” and said he has been targeting stores for months.

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker gave an update Monday on increased expressway patrols.

"He’s paroled people early. Matter of fact, he paroled a woman early who got out and shot her 2-year-old son in the back of the head and killed him. He paroled a man early that beat his 6-year-old child to death," Aurora Mayor Richard Irvin said.

"If we want to reduce crime," Gov. Pritzker said as he presented his spending plan, "we have to solve crimes."

“Painstaking work has been done ... over the last 3 years to diligently and meticulously reverse the irresponsible decisions of the past and ensure that responsible budgeting would become the rule, not the exception.”

Snowy weather will keep away the usual overflow crowd of Illinois lawmakers, but Gov. JB Pritzker has decided to deliver his annual budget address anyway Wednesday at noon.
