Chicago is celebrating the Sky's first-ever WNBA championship with a parade and rally Tuesday at Millennium Park.

The celebrations for the Chicago Sky’s WNBA championship are especially loud in two suburban communities.

On Tuesday, the city will celebrate the WNBA world champion Chicago Sky with a parade and rally downtown.

"They persevered, they did what they had to do," said Larry Parker, father of Candace Parker.

Allie Quigley scored 26 points and Candace Parker added 16 points, 13 rebounds and five assists.

Kahleah Copper scored 20 of her 22 points in the first half and Chicago used a dominant defensive effort to reach a record rout of the Phoenix Mercury 86-50 on Friday night, moving the Sky one victory away from the franchise’s first WNBA title.

Brittney Griner dunked while scoring 29 points, Diana Taurasi had eight of her 20 points in overtime and the Phoenix Mercury evened the WNBA Finals with a 91-86 win over the Chicago Sky on Wednesday night in Game 2.

A friendly wager was laid between Mayor Lori Lightfoot and Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego on who will win the WNBA finals.

Courtney Vandersloot had 12 points and 11 assists, helping Chicago shoot 53% and snatch home-court advantage from the Mercury in the best-of-five series.

Courtney Vandersloot scored 19 points and Kahleah Copper added 18 to help the Chicago Sky beat the top-seeded Connecticut Sun 79-69 and advance to the WNBA Finals on Wednesday night.

Kahleah Copper scored 26 points and Allie Quigley added 21 to help the Chicago Sky edge the top-seeded Connecticut Sun 86-83 in Game 3 of the WNBA semifinals on Sunday.

Alyssa Thomas worked hard for eight months rehabbing her torn Achilles’ tendon to be able to provide a spark for the Connecticut Sun in the playoffs.
