Chicago Park District now hiring summer lifeguards

The Chicago Park District opened applications for summer lifeguards earlier than ever to ensure readiness for the upcoming season.

By advancing the time, the Chicago Park District aims to attract a broader range of candidates who will undergo training to staff its 22 lakefront beaches, one inland beach and 77 pools. This early application process will also help refine recruitment strategies and address workforce needs before the beaches open on May 23, just in time for Memorial Day weekend.

Those interested are invited to apply online and register for the required swim test with upcoming dates on December 21 and February 1.

Lifeguard positions offer a starting pay of $19.75, flexible schedules, and career-building opportunities. Applicants must be Chicago residents aged 16 or older by July 1, 2025.
