2 Chicago police officers made 24 arrests in 28 days

Two Chicago police officers were given special recognition Thursday morning.

The Chicago Police Memorial Foundation awarded officers Maria Capi and Jesus Tapia with "Officer of the Month" after sharing stories about their exceptional accomplishments.

"This month's award recipients, First District Officers Jesus Tapia and Maria Capi, had a very busy and productive month. During a 28-day period from 27 April until 24 May, they made 24 arrests, including two arrests for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, an armed robbery arrest and an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon arrest," said Philip Cline, Chicago Police Memorial Foundation Executive Director.

Because of their accomplishments, Officers Tapia and Capi were recently added to the First District's tactical team.
