Chicago-area schools announce closures amid extreme cold

As single-digit temps and dangerous wind chills grip Chicago, several schools have announced closures for tomorrow.

Feels-like temperatures could be worse than -25 degrees on Tuesday morning.

Timeline:

Tuesday temperatures will start off below zero and the day's high will not make it out of the single digits. Expect strong wind chills and mostly sunny skies.

Wednesday: We come out of the deep freeze on Wednesday but it won’t be picnic weather. Highs will only climb into the 20s. There could be some snow showers Wednesday or Thursday but no significant snowfall is anywhere in sight.

Thursday and Friday: Upper 20s are likely both days before a chance at low-to-mid 30s this weekend.
