ELGIN, Ill. (STMW) - A northwest suburban man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for sexually assaulting a child he knew on multiple occasions for over two years.
Pedro Valle-Trujillo, 21, agreed to the sentence in exchange for a guilty plea to predatory criminal sexual assault, a Class X felony, the Kane County state’s attorney’s office said in a statement. Kane County Circuit Judge James Hallock accepted the plea.
Valle-Trujillo sexually assaulted a victim younger than 13 multiple times between 2012 and 2014, prosecutors said. He knew the victim, and the assaults occurred at a home in Elgin.
In addition to his 10-year prison term, Valle-Trujillo, who lives in the 1600 block of Mulberry Avenue in Elgin, must register for life as a sexual offender, prosecutors said.
He must serve at least 85 percent of his sentence, but was given credit for 385 days spent in the Kane County Jail, according to prosecutors.
