Has Christmas come too early?

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - Just a week after Halloween and it's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas. From Macy's to Daley Plaza, it's nearly impossible to avoid the holiday fanfare.

And after 50 years in Daley Plaza, Chicago’s tree, which is donated by a local family, will sit at Michigan and Washington in Millennium Park.

Construction on the market is already underway in Daley plaza, and it opens in two weeks.

Santa has already arrived at Woodfield Mall, and to avoid waiting in line, kids can book a seat on the big guy's lap for a $10 dollar non-refundable fee. The fee can be used toward a photo package.

However, the ultimate question is: Has Christmas come too early?

"I love it, it's nice and cold out here," said Chicago resident Natachia Jones.

"I think they might want to wait a little bit next year because it hasn't even been Thanksgiving yet," said Chicago resident Ariel Reifman.

"Christmas in downtown Chicago is like no other," said Chicago resident Derek Rice. "People trying to sell you stuff.  Everytime you walk down the street some dude trying to sell you a CD, it's just lovely, you get a joyful feeing being down here."

This November, there could be a psychological reason for the season says Dr. Tiffany Sanders.

"This time of year, individuals suffer from seasonal affec disorder, so that's a mild form of depression because we don't get a lot of sunlight, a lot of gray and gloomy days so sometimes this is a form of intervention or treatment," said family psychologist Dr. Sanders

In Chicago, some may have a more personal reason for embracing the early holiday joy.

"Chicago has had its backdrafts on a lot of violence and things of that sort, we need to pump up the volume a little bit," said Chicago resident Monique Bracy.
