AURORA (Sun-Times Media Wire) - An Aurora man wanted in connection with a fatal crash earlier this year in the western suburb turned himself in to police Friday afternoon.
Kendrick Scott, 19, surrendered to authorities about noon at the Aurora Police Department, according to police. He was charged with reckless homicide.
On March 31, he was allegedly driving on Ogden Avenue and Long Grove Drive when his vehicle fatally struck 37-year-old Lorenzo Bryant, according to Aurora Police and the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office.
No charges or tickets were issued at the time of the incident, but a warrant was issued Aug. 7 for his arrest on a reckless homicide charge, according to police.
Scott was charged Saturday with a felony count of reckless homicide and one count of failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident, according to the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office.
He was released Saturday after posting 10 percent of his $50,000 bond, according to court records and the state’s attorney’s office. His next court date was scheduled for Sept. 4.
