More than 1.7M holiday travelers likely at Chicago airports this weekend

More than 1.7 million passengers are expected to travel through Chicago's O'Hare and Midway international airports for the Labor Day holiday from Thursday through Tuesday.

The Chicago Department of Aviation predicts that both the city's airports will see an increase passengers compared to Labor Day last year.

Aviation Commissioner Ginger Evans says it's been a busy summer for air travel in Chicago and the trend is expected to continue through the weekend.

Of the six days around Labor Day, the busiest for O'Hare is expected to be Friday when more than 251,000 passengers are anticipated. Thursday is expected to be Midway's busiest day of the period, with more than 76,000 passengers.
