A teenager was charged after a Chicago Police officer was struck by a stolen SUV late Sunday in the Lawndale neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

The 17-year-old faces one misdemeanor count of battery causing bodily harm, according to Chicago Police. His name was not released because he was charged as a juvenile.

At 11:43 p.m., officers were walking up to the stolen SUV in the 3600 block of West Ogden when the vehicle sped away, striking one of the officers in the process, police said at the time.

The vehicle then struck a fence in the 1900 block of South Drake and two suspects ran away, police said.
