Toddler grabbed at Chicago Greyhound station, safely returned to mom

A person tried to abduct a 2-year-old Monday night at the Chicago Greyhound station.

A witness recalled the terrifying moments as she saw the mother of the young child running through the doors of the bus station screaming that someone had taken her 2-year-old child.

Numerous police officers quickly surrounded the area at Harrison and Jefferson, finding the child nearby. The child was apparently still in its stroller.

Police say the baby was taken as the mother was distracted. The suspect was a known "acquaintance" of the mother, and the person was taken by police for questioning.

The child was taken to Lurie Children’s Hospital for an evaluation.

No word on charges, yet. Police are continuing to investigate.
