ATLANTA - A heartless crime added more pain to a Roswell family at the bedside of a burn victim at Grady Memorial Hospital.
Atlanta Police are searching for two men who stole electronics and other items from a backpack of a family member which had been left in the waiting room on July 7.
“Someone could have let them in we just kind of let our guard down,” said Kathy Sammons, the theft victim.
Kathy Sammons discussed two men who Atlanta Police want to lock up. APD said they two stole a backpack with a laptop, two cellphone, and other items inside, belonging to the Sammons family who had temporarily left in the waiting room of the Grady Burn Unit.
“So they pretended to have some there but they didn’t have anybody there,” said Sammons.
She spoke to FOX 5 News by phone from the hospital where her son Pat Sammons continues to recover after fire investigators determine a natural gas leak from a clothes dryer led to an explosion and fire at a Roswell home back in June.
“We’re on day 45 of ICU, he’s had three surgeries and he’s got another one to go,” said Sammons.
And all along the Sammons family has been visiting regularly, often Mrs. Sammons says passing time in the waiting room which she says requires a special code to get in.
“And they change the codes frequently. Just so you know I don’t blame any of the folks at Grady for this, they have absolutely been amazing,” said Sammons.
Atlanta Police ask anyone with information to call them or to call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS. Tipsters could be eligible for up to a $2,000 reward and can remain anonymous.
