Wrigleyville prepares for Cubs home playoff games this week

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News/ STMW) - The Chicago Cubs are hoping they can turn their luck around at home for Game 3 of the NLCS Tuesday night. 

Wrigleyville is bracing for either a celebration or heartbreak as the Cubs head back to the North Side for Games 4, 5 and possibly 6 of the National League Championship Series against the Mets this week.

The Cubs are hoping the return home to Wrigley will be just what they need to turn things around. And fans are ready to lift up the team and give them that extra boost too.

The Cubs will take on New York on Tuesday and Wednesday at 7:07 p.m., and Thursday at the same time if necessary.

FOX 32's Joanie Lum reports there are still tickets available on the secondary market to see Tuesday night's game at Wrigley Field. The cheapest ticket FOX 32 News saw was going for about $140 for standing room only. 

Wrigley’s gates will open two hours before the games. Due to enhanced security measures at the ballpark, fans are advised to head to the park early.

But if you can't snag a ticket to Tuesday's game, Wrigleyville bars are ready and hoping for a large and happy crowd!

“While the Cubs made the city proud with their NLDS win at home last week, fans and residents made the city equally as proud by celebrating safely and respecting the surrounding community after Tuesday’s clinch game,” a statement from the city’s Office of Emergency Management and Communications said.

No parking is allowed on the following streets around Wrigley:

  • Clark from Belmont to Irving Park;
  • Sheffield from Belmont to Irving Park;
  • Addison from Halsted to Southport; and
  • Racine from Grace to Belmont.
  • Some other streets may close around the ballpark as needed for public safety.

The CTA will add extra bus and train service on the Red Line, and the No. 80 Irving Park and No. 152 Addison bus routes leading up to the games. Fans can also use the No. 8 Halsted and No. 22 Clark bus routes

The Cubs offer free remote parking at 3900 N. Rockwell, just east of the Chicago River and accessed from Irving Park Road. The lot includes free shuttle service to Wrigley beginning three and a half hours before first pitch until one hour after the end of the game.
