2 hurt in stabbing at Green Line station at Cermak-McCormick Place

A man was stabbed and another suffered lacerations Friday afternoon at a CTA Green Line station on the South Side.

Paramedics responded for a stabbing shortly before 4 p.m. at the Cermak-McCormick Place station, according to Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Merritt.

A 35-year-old man who appeared to be intoxicated on a train was acting “belligerent” towards passengers when he was confronted by a 25-year-old man, Chicago police said.

The older man pulled out a knife and stabbed the younger man in the back of the neck after following him off the train, police said.

The man who was stabbed was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, authorities said. The other man was taken to Mercy Hospital.

Officers arrested the 35-year-old, police said.
