8-year-old girl, two adults wounded in Chicago South Side shooting: police

An 8-year-old girl and two adults are hospitalized after a shooting Wednesday on Chicago’s South Side, authorities said. 

What we know:

The shooting occurred about 4:48 p.m. in the 3400 block of South King Drive, reportedly near a Baskin Robbin's.

Chicago police said a dark-colored SUV approached three people — an 8-year-old girl, a 28-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man — and opened fire.

The girl was shot in the foot and taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in good condition. The woman was shot in the knee and transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, also in good condition, police said.

The man was shot in the arm, chest and groin and taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in good condition, according to police.

What's next:

Police said at least one suspect was involved, but no arrests have been made.

The investigation remains ongoing.
