Child found hanging in closet on South Side
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - A mysterious death investigation is unfolding on Chicago's South Side, where police say a little girl was found hanging in a closet.
But, was it foul play or suicide?
Sources say the 8-year-old girl's mother, who is pregnant, found her hanging in a closet at a home in the 9200 block of South LaSalle.
The girl's mother reportedly called 911 and the child was transported to Comer Children's Hospital, where doctors were unable to revive her.
The family, which consists of the deceased little girl, pregnant mother and two young siblings, recently moved to Chicago from Florida.
A source familiar with similar cases told FOX 32's News' Anita Padilla it would "be very difficult" for an 8-year-old child to figure out the mechanics of hanging.
An autopsy is scheduled for later Thursday. Stay tuned to FOX 32 News for updates on this developing story.
