Driver fleeing from police crashes into CTA Bus on West Side

A CTA bus was involved in a crash late Thursday night after being struck by a vehicle fleeing a police traffic stop, according to Chicago police.

The crash happened around 11:31 p.m. in the 300 block of South Pulaski Road. Police said a gray sedan traveling westbound on Jackson Boulevard collided with a southbound CTA bus.

The impact caused the bus to jump the curb and strike a pole before coming to a stop. The bus driver, the sole occupant, was transported to Stroger Hospital with minor injuries and is listed in good condition.

The sedan was occupied by two men, both of whom were transported to Mount Sinai Hospital with unspecified injuries. They were listed in good condition.

The driver of the sedan was taken into custody at the scene. Police recovered a weapon from the vehicle during their investigation.

Authorities revealed that the sedan had fled from officers attempting a traffic stop moments before the crash. Area detectives are leading the investigation.
