A CTA Green Line train was stalled early Monday morning on Chicago’s South Side, causing major service disruptions.
CHICAGO - A CTA Green Line train was stalled early Monday morning on Chicago’s South Side, causing major service disruptions.
The train was stopped near 63rd Street and Normal Boulevard in the Englewood neighborhood, closest to the Halsted stop.

What we know:
Service was suspended between Garfield and Ashland/63rd.
The disruption was reported at 2:39 a.m., the CTA said.
Crews at the scene said the situation arose because of a minor derailment. Passengers were seen being helped off the train by the Chicago Fire Department.
The CTA said it was working to restore service as quickly as possible, but there wasn’t much activity happening a little after 6 a.m.
Green Line trains will operate from Harlem/Lake to 64rd Cottage Grove only.
Passengers are asked to consider alternative routes. If possible, the CTA advises riders use the Red Line as an alternate route.
Shuttle buses will be available from Garlfield and 63rd/Ashland to provide connecting service through the affected area.
What we don't know:
It wasn't clear exactly what caused the derailment or when service would be restored.
Authorities did not say if anyone was injured during the incident.
