PlayStation outage: Krispy Kreme offering free doughnuts to frustrated gamers

Attention gamers – if you're having a tough start to the weekend due to the PlayStation outage, Krispy Kreme is coming to the rescue! 

What we know:

The doughnut shop is offering a free original glazed doughnut on Saturday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

"…Because sweet rewards don't need a server," Krispy Kreme said in a post on X.

Users began reporting issues Friday at 7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT, and the problems continued through Saturday, according to the PlayStation Network.

Gamers are having difficulty signing in, launching games/apps/network features, purchasing products on the PlayStation Store and PlayStation Direct, and more.

What's next:

As of around 3 p.m. Saturday, errors were still being reported, but appeared to be declining, according to Downdetector, an outage-tracking website.

The cause of the outage has not been disclosed, and it remains unclear when service will be fully restored.

For now, gamers can at least enjoy a free Krispy Kreme doughnut while they wait.
